Homemade Christmas Ornaments

"Braided Ball Ornaments"
Submitted by Angela Bond of NC
These are my favorite ornaments because they are
so easy to make, yet look very expensive. I bought my materials after Christmas
last year for half price and made about 12 for my tree. These would make great
gifts too.
3" Styrofoam ball
Spool of gold and white braid
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
1 yard of 1/4" wide gold ribbon
Straight pins
Christmas pick of your choice
Using a straight pin, pin end of braid into ball to hold it securely. Begin
wrapping ball with braid, applying some glue about every inch to hold braid in
place. Continue until entire ball is covered; then cut the braid and secure the
end with a straight pin and a little glue. Tie a bow out of the gold ribbon. Cut
apart the Christmas pick and use the pieces (holly leaves, pine stems, pine
cone, etc.) to embellish the top of the ball by gluing each piece in place. Cut
a length of the gold ribbon 8 inches long. Glue both ends of the ribbon into the
top of the ball to create a hanger.
