Clay Pot Gingerbread Pals
by Amanda Formaro

These gingerbread are too cute to eat! If you are looking for an easy holiday craft, this could very well be the answer you've been searching for.  More...

You will need: (for each character)

2- 1 1/2" diameter wooden balls
2- 2 1/4" diameter clay pots
2 buttons
shiny holiday ribbons
white small rick rack
white craft or hot glue
black finetip marker
large paintbrush
acrylic paints in light brown and pink

What you do:

Place newspaper down on work surface. Turn clay pot over and glue wooden ball to bottom of pot. When glue is dry, use large paint brush to paint entire the outside of the clay pot and the entire wooden ball with light brown paint. Let dry and apply a second coat.

Cut a strip of rick rack to fit around the bottom of the clay pot (see photo), glue in place. Cut another strip of rick rack, measuring from the bottom of the ball at the side of the "head", across the top and over to the other side. Glue in place.

Glue two buttons onto the front of the body. Fashion two bows, one for the female's head, one for the male's neck. Glue in place.

Use black marker to dot on eyes and draw mouth. Using a small sponge, gently dab on a thin amount of pink for the cheeks.
