Hot Dogs and Baked Bean Casserole

Here is a recipe that I think children and hot dog lovers will enjoy. It is also easy on the pocket book. My teenagers and their friends love this recipe.

Ingredients:

8 hot dogs, sliced
2 c. baked beans
1/2 c. chopped onions
1/2 c. chopped sweet pepper
1 (6 oz.) can tomato sauce (your favorite brand or homemade sauce)
4 hot dog rolls, toasted and cut in half

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease with cooking spray, a medium size deep dish casserole dish. In a large bowl combine hot dog slices, baked beans, onions, sweet pepper and tomato sauce. Pour into the casserole dish, cover and bake for 30-45 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve over hot dog buns.

Options:

- lightly toast buns
- sauté onions, peppers before adding remaining ingredients
- add shredded cheese as a topping

This can also be made ahead of time and frozen for those nights your just to tried to cook.
