Thrifty Money-Saving Tips Sports
Equipment for Kids
I have a wonderful suggestion that could help hundreds and up to even thousands of family with little or no money, and just a little time.
Every Spring the children in our community sign up to play little league baseball/softball. Children outgrow their mitts, bats, cleats, helmets, etc. If each youth ball organization set aside one weekend before opening weekend to do a sports gear swap then the kids could get those items needed to play ball for that year and at the end of the year they return those items to the organization so that children coming up right behind them will have access to equipment.
I know that
there were a couple of times that I had to say "sorry" to our kids because
I just didn't have the money needed to buy all their gear. There are places
selling used sporting equipment, but when you don't have enough money for ball
registration, sporting gear, and food... To participate, clean up any items that you are willing to donate to this cause. If you don't have anything this year to donate, don't worry, next year you can donate back the items you used the year before. It is a wonderful way to pay it forward and I think it is a good lesson for young children to learn.
Helping our
fellow brothers and sisters with anything we can will make their day a lot
brighter and yours too. * * * January 2011 Tip Rewards™ Winner!!!
