Thrifty Money-Saving Tips Vinegar
Vs. Scrubbing Bubbles®
I'm not big on
gadgets, but when the Scrubbing Bubbles shower spray unit went on sale, I headed
straight for it (coupon in hand, of course). I live on an old farm with very
hard well water, and it's a challenge keeping the shower clean.

The Scrubbing Bubbles worked like a charm and left a very pleasant fragrance, and I was pleased with my purchase. However, when it came time to replace the dispenser, I was not so pleased. Even with coupons, I felt that the refill was far too expensive. I wondered if I could put my own cleaning solution into the dispenser. The unit is designed with a cap that does not come off, no matter how much you twist, but I discovered that, with a little time and patience, you can funnel your own solution into the dispenser. I mixed some vinegar and water in a large measuring cup and used a cake decorating tip for a funnel (Wilton #26). This arrangement works as well, if not better, than the original bubbles solution maybe vinegar neutralizes hard water better... and vinegar is certainly "greener" (cheaper, too!) In any case, as spring cleaning continues, my shower needs no extra attention this year!
